Apprentice Falconry Workshop 2014

The 5th annual MHC Falconry workshop will be Saturday, June 28th, 2014 at the home of the MHC Treasurer and Master Falconer Sue Ryan. This is THE EVENT to attend if you are interested in learning more about falconry from the pre-apprentice or pre-apprentice perspective. This workshop will answer many of the questions individuals new to the sport often ask about and goes further in-depth on falconry topics for apprentices.

You will be able to meet a number of active Michigan falconers and their hawks, look at the construction and design of a falconers mews (hawk house), make some falconry equipment to take home and have opportunity to ask many questions! Attendees must be 14 yrs. or older.

Continental breakfast and registration will be from 8:30am-9:00am with sessions starting at 9:00 a.m. Sessions will conclude at 9:00p.m. Dinner will be provided for those who wish to stay for the equipment making portion of the day and for additional networking.

Workshop Event Topics will include:

Basic Mew Design
Hawk Trapping
Raptor Evaluation of Newly Trapped Hawk
Basic Raptor Housing and Care
Apprentice/Sponsor Contracts
Legal and Ethical Considerations in the practice of falconry
Basic Falconry Equipment Construction (anklets, jesses, leashes)
Round table discussions

Workshop Registration fee is $30.00 and includes continental breakfast, lunch, dinner, notebooks with handouts and materials for equipment construction.

NOTE: Registration is required. Last date for registration will be Friday June 20th. Attendees will be limited to one notebook and one set of handout material. Please contact Sue Ryan with any registration questions.?
